These Air Fryer Chicken Wings are the best and crispiest wings ever! Done in less than 20 minutes, you'll never make wings another way again!
These Air Fryer Chicken Wings not only take a fraction of the time of baking, but get so crispy you'll think they are fried! With over 100 positive reviews, they are a reader favorite!

Why These Air Fryer Chicken Wings Are Better Than The Rest
- Extra crispy: Using the small amount of oil plus seasoning blend while cooking in the air fryer get these wings extra crispy, while maintaining a juicy center.
- Healthy: These Air Fryer Chicken Wings don’t require any deep frying (excessive oil) due to the air fryer. Using a small amount of oil helps get it super crispy, while keeping these heart healthy. Don’t like bones, try these easy Air Fryer Chicken Tenders or air fryer chicken breast - these recipes come out perfectly every time!
- Make the wings in advanced: Batch cook these and then freeze or keep in the fridge until needed! Follow the easy reheating directions I’ve listed below.
- Great meal to combine with other sides: Pair these with an easy side of corn on the cob or a nice Wedge Salad for a quick dinner!

Making wings in the Air Fryer couldn't be easier! Let me explain...
Ingredients to make the crispiest chicken wings in the air fryer:
These air fryer chicken wings only take a handful of ingredients, most of which you will already have in your pantry, which makes the wings easy to make! Here's what you'll need:
- defrosted chicken wings (drums and flats) - if frozen, leave in the refrigerator overnight to defrost.
- olive oil
- garlic powder
- onion powder
- paprika
- salt
- black pepper
How to make Air Fryer Chicken Wings:
**scroll down for full ingredients list and printable directions**
- First, prep the chicken wings.
- If the wings are full, separate them into drums and flats.
- Make sure they are DEFROSTED.
- Pat them dry completely - this is important so they get crispy.

- Place the wings into a bowl and add oil, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Toss to cover the wings.
- Feel free to use your favorite seasoning blend, however this one is pretty basic and delicious!
- Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees for few minutes.

- Add the wings in a single layer to the air fryer (they should NOT be touching), and cook for 10 minutes at 400 F degrees.
- After the timer goes off, open and carefully flip over the chicken wings.

- Close the air fryer and cook at 400 degrees F for 8 minutes.
- Remove the chicken wings and serve with your favorite side dishes or dips!

Can I freeze the chicken wings? YES!
- Let the wings cool completely and then add to a freezer safe bag or container and freeze for up to 3 months.
- To reheat/air fry from frozen: Place in a single layer in the air fryer basket, set to 375 degrees and cook for 10 minutes, then flip over. Cook an additional 8-10 minutes or until cooked through.
What to serve with Air Fryer Chicken Wings:
- Serve with your favorite dips such as Cilantro Lime Dip, The Best Chunky Blue Cheese, or Homemade Buffalo Sauce.
- Serve with a side of corn on the cob - Instant Pot Corn on the Cob or Air Fryer Corn on the Cob is always a hit!
- Use the air fryer to make Frozen French Fries or Tater Tots to serve alongside the wings!
- A hearty scoop of Creamy Mac and Cheese also goes VERY WELL alongside Chicken Wings!
- Or make a Simple Wedge Salad to go with the wings!
- Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries have become one of my favorite side dishes! So much healthier than the fried alternative!
- Serve with just celery and carrots and a side of Blue Cheese Dressing or Jalapeno Ranch - YUM!

Can I bake Chicken Wings?
Yes, however it takes much longer to get them crispy. Preheat oven to 400 degrees and place the wings on a single layer on a baking sheet (place on an oven rack on top of the baking sheet to get crispier). Bake for 30 minutes, then flip and cook another 15-30 minutes depending on desired crispiness.

Jeanette says
I made this recipe tonight for 8lbs of wings. You read that right 8lbs!! I quadrupled the recipe. My husband and boys loved them and enjoyed them as we watched College Football. 8lbs makes about 40-45 wings. It was the perfect flavor and a great base recipe that can lead to so many different flavor profiles just by adding a few more spices. Thank you!!
Allyson says
That is a lot of WINGS! Glad they turned out well! So versatile as a base recipe!
Bkhuna says
Since air fryers have different modes (bake, roast, air fry, etc. you should specify which mode to use.

Unless specified it will always be air fry mode 🙂

I love these. So easy and so crispy and delicious. I tend to be rather lazy...I put the wings in a zip bag after drying etc as you say and add the seasonings and olive oil and swish around so all are coated. No bowl to wash. 🙂 and for me I feel I get the seasonings more even on the wings. Tho it matters not one iota. Thanks for all the sharing of recipes and great information. Parm chips on the snack menu today!!!!
Allyson says
Oh that is a great ti for easy cleanup! I am also a "dump in the bag" type of girl, but didn't think of it for the wings! Will do that next time!

Do I need to spray the air fryer with non stick spray before placing them in to cook?
Allyson says
You dont need to, but can if you want
Marilyn V Stinson says
Didn't say how much oil to use other wise will be trying soon
Allyson says
Hi! It actually says right in the printable recipe card how much oil to use. If you scroll down to the recipe, it. says 1 Tablespoon of oil. Hope you enjoy them!
Sue says
Will it work if I make these and then add some sauce and put in a snow cooker to keep them warm?
Allyson says
Sue - I am not sure about adding them to a slow cooker. Usually if you add to a slow cooker it is going to lose it's crispiness, but if you don't mind them being soft I am sure it would be okay.
Alice says
So crispy, and so delicious
How long would you cook turkey wings using the same recipe?
Allyson says
I would try adding maybe 1 minute and checking the internal temp (165 degrees F). Add another min or 2 of you need to! You dont want to overcook them and dry them out.
Valerie says
I can't wait to try this recipe, I am just curious if anyone knows if there is a difference between a standalone air fryer vs a oven air fryer? Do I need to increase or decrease time?
Allyson says
Valerie - It's likely that the larger oven will take a few more minutes. It will be trial and error and you should use an internal thermometer to make sure the meat is cooked fully.
MaryKay Wood says
Crispy wings for the win!!
KM says
Came out so good!!! It taste like it was on the Grill. Like we were having BBQ, WE LOVED IT. THANK YOU!

I received an air fryer for Christmas in 2021 and it had never been out of the box. But we wanted wings for the football game tonight so I googled air fryer chicken wings. Your recipe was the only one I looked at, and it did not disappoint! Best tasting wings ever! This is the only recipe I’ll use in the future.
Jeff says
Stupid good wings. Great seasoning and they taste better than deep fried. I only make this recipe now but I do raise the temperature on the air fryer to 425 and 450 on the flip. Gets em even crispier
Allyson says
Great tips!! Thank you for sharing your positive feedback!!

These are THE BEST homemade wings you will ever make! They are so crispy which is a must for me with wings. They are also healthy with very simple ingredients!

My turned out delicious. I did find I had to cook them for shorter time. One batch burned a bit and tasted overcooked. I found 8 mins and 4 mins cooked them perfectly.
Maybe I had smallish wings.
Carmen says
I agree with your comment. Used the same times as you did. Recipe was super easy and very tasty. Once cooked, I coated them with bottled bbq sauce.

So happy to hear that! We love them too!

My family loves these. They said they will never order out wings again.
Ray says
Historically, we have purchased frozen pre-cooked wings. That is...until we bought our air fryer a few months ago. Now, we buy the fresh wings from Costco at less cost than frozen, add the spice rub above and, in 20 mins, we have the best damn wings ever....EVER!! And I know every single ingredient that went into them...no preservatives etc here!
Allyson says
Ray!!! I am SO happy to hear that you love them! Isn't the air fryer amazing!!!?!??! Make sure you checkout all of my popular air fryer recipes!
MissyG says
These were pretty good! I had already prepared frozen chicken wings with coarse salt and baking soda and allowed them to sit uncovered in my refrigerator on a rack for a day and a half before attempting this recipe. Originally, I was going to “oven fry” these but it’s just too darn hot where I live and I didn’t want to heat up the house with my oven. So, I dug out the old Oster convection toaster oven from the garage and gave this recipe a go.
For anyone else using a convection toaster oven instead of an air fryer - I learned pretty quickly that I needed to up the temp by at least 25-30°F for this to work properly. When I Google searched this later, I realized others have said the same thing. For part of the time on one of my batches, I even had the temp set at 450°F and it worked out well. I used the oil and seasonings in this recipe and the wings were flavorful. Not quite as crispy as I had imagined but I found out later that I should have put my rack on the lowest setting in a toaster oven. I did not, and had it on the middle rack. I’ll try it the right way next time. As well, even though I only added the 1 tsp oil to the season rub, my wings ended up sitting in a pool of oil as they “fried” so I wondered if that was keeping them from crisping even more(?). All in all, they were just crispy enough and the flavor was delicious. I’ll be making these again.
Allyson says
Missy - thank you SO MUCH for your review! This will be very helpful for anyone else using a convection toaster oven to make this recipe. If you want to make them crispier, I would try putting a little rack inside whatever pan you are cooking them in, then the oil/juice will drip down like it does in the air fryer, instead of sitting around the chicken 🙂 Happy cooking!
Laura l Rose says
Hello,
I tried this and unfortunately I did not read the dry part. So they were not crispy, I also left the wings whole. I did however have to add 5 minutes time to be fully cooked. I must also add that my air fryer is an oven air fryer, as in the oven has a built in air fryer. It actually has to be preheated. If there are any suggestions for me please lmk. I just wanted to let others know to Dry off the wings lol.
Thanks
Allyson says
Yes! The wings should NOT be wet so patting them dry is an important step in the directions. I would try again with drying them 😉
Rachel T. says
Absolute perfection 🥰 I have gotten into the habit of adding a tsp of baking powder to meat when I use my air fryer to get crispy skin. Other than that I followed your recipe and they were eaten up so fast! 😂 Ty
Terri says
I have a built in over as well. I did dry the wings and were not crispy. Had to add another 19 minutes as they didn't look done. glad I added time. t
Allyson says
Hi terri- I don't understand your comment of having a built in over?
Victoria Van Eman says
You need to add a “jump to recipe” option and option to print the recipe without all of the photos and ads.
Allyson says
You can print the recipe by clicking print at the top of the recipe card! No ads or photos will print with it!
Sandy says
This was my first air fryer recipe. My husband told me to be sure to keep this recipe. Best wings ever.
Brenda says
Best wings ever at home! These are so good and so easy to make. I will never bake or grill wings again. So quick and little clean up. Only change I made is I put all my spices and oil in a ziplock bag then throw in the dried off wings and shake them up. One less bowl to wash. Thank you for this great recipe. Such a time saver and wings are crispy outside and tender and juicy inside.
Allyson says
That is always what I do with the bag too, it is easier cleanup 🙂 I am SO happy you loved them!
Terri says
Not sure. First time doing an airfry in my new Samsung oven.. why do the wings come out wet? I did dry them. Don't look too crispy. Oven has grease splatters. I did have a drip pan one level below. should I have put the drip pan directly until the basket?
Allyson says
Terri- I have both an oven with air fryer built in, and a basket air fryer. I am sad to say that I do not use my oven with the air fry function because it does not work well at all. It takes a lot longer to heat the large space, and with the heating unit not as close to the food, it doesn't seem to make it crispy. I would advise using a standard basket or smaller toaster oven style air fryer to utilize the air fryer function.
Michele Gillissie says
Great wings! My husband and I loved them! I followed the recipe to a “T” other than I added two minutes to the cook time, maybe because my wings were a little large. Thank you!!
Sharon says
WOW! WOW! WOW!
The best recipe ever! Thank-you!
Allyson Gallagher says
This was my first recipe using my new Air Fryer that I got for my 74th Birthday. Recipe was really easy to prepare. We were impressed!
Noticed your name is the same as mine. Growing up there were no Allyson’s except me until Peyton Place appeared on TV. Still very few Allyson’s spelled with a Y. I was named after my Grandfather, Charles Allyson Gates, born in Florida.
Allyson says
Hey Allyson! Yes, we have the same name and same spelling, how awesome! My mom never said if she named me after someone so I am not sure, but I am about to turn 38 so maybe the spelling is a little more common now. I hope you love your air fryer! It is the best appliance and I have so many recipes you can checkout here!
Kristina says
Can I make these in the air fryer ahead of time and then reheat in the oven? Will they still have the same crispiness?
Allyson says
I have not tried that, and a lot of times after crispy food cools it loses its crispness. But you might be able to throw them in under the broiler for a few minutes and crisp them back up… I just haven't tried that.
Joan says
I have found if you put them back in the air fryer and use reheat mode, they crisp up. Works so well with pizza too. It’s like you just made it, not soggy but crisp.
Brian says
Yes! About 4 minutes at 400 degrees does the trick for me any time I reheat wings in the air fryer. I recommend the air fryer for reheating over the oven, less hassle, faster, and (best of all) the crispiest results for reheating. This recipe is awesome!
Nicole says
I made these in the oven and served with with scratch made jalapeño ranch. They were amazing and wind me big praise on football Sunday
Allyson says
So happy to hear, Nicole! Make sure you try the Air Fryer Asian Chicken Wings (crispy & sticky) too because they are amazing!

I made these tonight. I actually doubled the seasoning due to my wing pack being a little bigger than 2lbs. The wings were so crispy and delicious! I ate with a little ranch. 😋 Definitely making these again. I eat low carb so I’ll keep the leftovers in the refrigerator for the next few nights. Very convenient.

Thanks for the recipe. My picky teenager has been begging for an air fryer and for a wing recipe. He loved them and they were a hit with whole family! Great spice and timing. We added buffalo sauce on top. Super easy to make too!

So glad you loved them! These are definitely a favorite!
Toula Karambasis says
My air fryer is in my oven. Do you think I should use the same amount of time to cook them or should I do them on higher heat?
Allyson says
The oven air fryers definitely take longer to cook the food. I would start with the suggested time, but then increase as needed when checking on them.
Holly says
I have an oven air fryer also. Did you fingiré out the time?

Allyson says
Your husband sounds like a smart guy!!! 🙂
Tea L. says
It’s been hard to find a simple recipe that we all love and this was it! Our new oven has the air fryer, we found that we have to adjust the temp and timing a tad. I did 425 for 12, flipped for 10 without raising the temp. Let rest 5, then dunk! I used BWW Parm Garlic sauce for 1/2 and Franks Buffalo for the other 1/2. Served with celery, corn and baked beans. Super delicious and easy!
Allyson says
Sounds amazing! So glad you love the wings!!!
Lisa says
I soaked my wings in buttermilk and pickle juice overnight then followed this recipe exactly. It was wonderful! These were the best wings I've ever made. My granddaughter loved them so much!

skin on or off?

Thanks for the recipe, I just added to the seasoning a pinch of cayenne pepper and it was just incredible.

I just split 40 lbs. of wings with my son. I was looking for a good recipe to make 5 or 6 wings at a time. This recipe is it! I split the recipe in half for 6 wings and followed the recipe completely. Ingredients and cook time. They turned out perfect, I won't need to tweak this recipe, it's perfect the way it is. Easy, cheap, and fast without adding extra calories.
Allyson says
Yes!!! That is so good to hear!!
Marcia says
We loved these! The seasoning was perfect! They were perfectly cooked, tender, and juicy on the inside, but the skin didn’t get very crispy, so that was a bit disappointing. Maybe my wings were too big… 5 whole wings weighed 2 lbs, so after splitting them and throwing out the little tips, there were only 10 pieces. I followed the directions and ingredients exactly and cooked them in my ninja air fryer. I had to carry it outside after flipping them because the fryer smoked like the dickens and my range hood (outside vent kind) could not keep up. Fortunately we have an outdoor plug right next to the kitchen door. When they were done I tossed them in Allrecipe’s chef John’s Buffalo wing sauce. They were delicious! Not as good as deep fried, but good enough.
Barbara Stewart says
I agree with Brian, reheat in air fryer !! you can add a few more at a time since they are already cooked and flip/shake em. it works !!
Mary C Fitzsimmons says
I'm looking forward to trying this recipe right after my wings defrost!
My question to you is... do u know what the sodium content is, as I'm on a very strict low sodium diet! Dr's orders!
I didn't see it in the Nutritional Facts.
Thx, in advance!
Allyson says
Mary - please use your exact ingredients and plug them into a recipe nutrition calculator to find your specific nutritional information. Every ingredient (brands) is different depending on which one you use, so you should use your exact brands/ingredients to calculate if it's important to your diet. Enjoy!
Barb Porter says
Just finished our wings and they were amazing!! My husband said he has never had better wings. I followed the recipe and then tossed them with our favorite sauce - delicious. They were really good without any sauce too. Many thanks for sharing.
Allyson says
So happy to hear that, Barb! I hope you'll spread the word about our amazing chicken wing recipe! Cheers!
Charlotte Calloway says
Wow! This was my first time for wings in my air fryer. I only did 4 in case I did something wrong and my picky 93 year young client wouldn’t like them. Well, Oh My Lord!! They were awesome! My son and I decided to fry them all and see her reaction. We didn’t tell her until we saw if she liked them, she did! I don’t think she believed us when we said they were done in the air fryer! A total win!!

Kirsten Petterson says
Big success! The family loved the wings and seasoning. This will be my go to recipe.
Allyson says
So happy to hear that!
Allyson says
Yes!! So glad to hear that!
Carrie Degan says
Hi, I made this tonight.....was very good and crispy...love my airfryer. Followed all ingredients, and directions... except...used truffle salt ( im so addicted to that) in place of regular salt.
Great wings!
Thank yo so much!
Allyson says
Truffle ANYTHING is my love language! What a great idea!!!

That is odd - it opens for me when I click it - try this https://domesticsuperhero.com/wprm_print/22175
Diane says
These were so good! I'll definitely be making them again!
Sylvie B says
Never buying precooked frozen wings ever again. Followed recipe to a T, best wings I've ever eaten. Dipped in a ranch dressing, they were so savoury. Thanks for this recipe, it's a keeper.
Allyson says
YESSS!!!! So happy to hear you loved them!
Christie L Thurmond says
I keep using your cooking method, but my wings keep coming out 165 degrees after only cooking 10 minutes. Great reference though, just wondering if there's a reason..
Allyson says
They were probably a lot smaller than typical wings would be my guess. The skin won't get as crispy in that short of time if not flipping them as well. You can try turning the heat down 20 degrees and cooking with the same time I mention in the recipe! Glad you liked them!
Sonny says
Yep, same here.
Kathleen says
THE BEST! I’ll never make wings any otherway. I did par boil first just cause that’s what I do. These were PERFECTLY done, crispy and seasoning yummy! Thank you!
Allyson says
So happy you loved them!
Cathy says
First time making wings in my new air fryer. The seasoning was perfect and the wings were delicious! So glad I chose this recipe.
Rick says
there i was playing w my balls and making chicken wings! great recipe!
Andrew Jackson says
Thanks Rick... This is the most accurate review I think I've seen! Enjoy your balls and your wings, watch that sauce dude.
Haleigh Landis says
It was soooooooo delicious! Definitely making it again!
Kori says
Wow... These wings were amazing!! Thank you so much for this delicious recipe! My husband and son could not get enough of these crispy wings. The only "bad" thing is I had to make them in 3 batches and the waiting was torture... lol ;-D
I followed the directions as is and they turned out exactly as promised.
Thanks again!
Allyson says
Sometimes it is a bummer that you can't cook more at once, but if you overcrowd they won't get as crispy so it's definitely worth the wait...and it cooks a lot faster than baking, so there is that, too! I am so glad you liked them! Make sure you try these buffalo wings and asian sticky wings too - sooo good!
Matt says
These wings were great! I bought 1.5 lbs figuring I would eat half and bring the other half to work the next day for my lunch, I ate them all in one sitting!!!
Allyson says
Next time try 2 pounds 😉 I agree, they are hard to resist!
Lauren says
Unfortunately 400° was too hot for my air fryer to work at. That’s the highest setting on mine and the added olive oil (not much) kept causing it to over heat. It shut off 4 different times and had to wait 5 min in between for it to cool off again. Not sure how they taste because they weren’t able to complete 🙁
Allyson says
This is definitely a big problem with your air fryer. What type do you have? I would consider returning if it can't heat up to 400 degrees as it should not be overheating. If you want to try again you can reduce the temp to 370 degrees and add 4 minutes.
Jon says
So your hardware was malfunctioning and you gave a low review of something you never made successfully / tried? Dimwitted people never cease to amaze me.
NoPressure says
I need to know what kind of air fryer you have it's very important I need to know please and thank you.
Allyson says
I have several air fryers.... Gourmia 8qt basket style, PowerXL 7qt Basket style, and Ninja double basket 10qt air fryer. Love them all!
Christy says
Loved this so good and easy!! I split in 2 batches I added a bit of air fryer seasoning and cayenne to the 2nd batch wow!!
Alina says
The best wings I've had! The wings were so moist and delicious! the perfect blend of seasonings that made these the best wings that are healthier than the deep-fried version. The wings were so good that I am making some more tonight for dinner. My picky eaters loved it too! Thank you for this recipe.
Allyson says
Thanks for letting me know - makes me so happy! Cheers to wings!
Shayles says
Can the seasoned uncooked wings be frozen for another day?
Allyson says
Yes, you can definitely do that. They should be frozen within 48 hours of thawing in the fridge. When you then defrost the wings might get watery so you might need to add more seasoning.
Alan H says
👍👍👍 Awesome!!
Robin says
These wings were delicious and so easy to make. I will definitely make these again.
Jamie says
I got an air fryer as a Christmas gift and finally used it today. This was the first recipe I tried and it was AMAZING! Super crispy and my kids loved them! Definitely making again!
Allyson says
So happy to hear that! Be sure to try out the other Air Fryer recipes too!
Barb Hesse says
I want to make these for a Super Bowl party. Taking them about 2 blocks away. Can I keep them warm in a 200 degree oven til people start eating? Also, how many wings do you get with 2 lb? My air fryer has 2 compartments so I can make more at one time.
Allyson says
if the wings are separated into drums and flats already, 1 pound will be about 10 drums or flats, so 2lbs will be 20ish. You can keep them warm that way, however they may lose a bit of their crispiness if they are sitting for a while. Everyone will LOVE them!
Desma Hart says
These were amazing. We made them tonight and they were a hit with the entire family. They want these on their rotation. Thanks for the awesome recipe!
Allyson says
So glad to hear they were a hit! Make sure you checkout the asian wings and lemon pepper wings too - so good!
PBE says
I made these last night for the Super bowl. I followed the oven method bc I had too many wings to cook and didn't want to do multiple batches in air fryer. These did not disappoint! Wow so crispy, we loved them. I did place the raw wings in a dish towel and covered them with another towel and let them sit on the counter for about 20 minutes to get them dry. I think that made a difference. The only thing I'll do different next time is to add a bit of cayenne. I did cook them for 30 mins flipped and cooked another 25 minutes, came out perfect. Baked on parchment paper.
Allyson says
Sometimes the oven is handy if you have a ton of wings to make! I am so glad that you tried them out and enjoyed them! I like a little kick of spice sometimes too! Make sure you try these asian wings as they are equally delicious!
Teresa says
Delicious and a relevant without all the sodium that is in other recipes. Thank you! It would be perfect to have the recipe right up front. That way we get right to it. It's a shirt scroll after the actually recipe for those who want read everything. Good job!

These are so well-seasoned, my husband didn't even use buffalo sauce! Although, they work well with that as well. Thank you!
Cindy says
Spot on! Thanks for sharing this recipe. We really enjoyed it.
Allyson says
So glad you hear you loved it! Make sure you try out my other air fryer wing recipes too!
Kenyetta Hyler says
I want to make them, but I don't have olive oil. Can I use vegetable oil or skip the oil all together?
Allyson says
You can use vegetable oil or any type of oil really!
Leah says
We have made these several times. My husband and son are chicken wing connoisseurs. They think these are the "bomb". They like to add buffalo wing sauce at the end (on their plate). Thanks so much for sharing the recipe!!
Allyson says
I am so happy to hear that!! Cheers!
NR says
These were great! My husband tried them and went: "WOW! These are so great!!!"
So - definitely keeping the recipe 🙂
Next time I will reduce the salt a bit (might be just my type of salt) but all in all - really great recipe!!
Allyson says
I am so happy you loved them! Thank you for coming back to leave a positive comment!
Occasional says
The wings were very good. For the seasoning I used Dash hot and spicy, Dash garlic and herb, paparika, and Dash onion. My Dad has high blood pressure so we have to limit the salt. They still came out very favorable.
Allyson says
Sounds like an amazing tweak! Thank you for coming back to leave a positive comment!
Ken Knudson says
I'm with everybody else on here –these are the best wings ever! I had to fudge the recipe a little because I didn't have onion powder, so I used twice as much onion salt (yep, it's a thing) and no actual salt. Perfection! Crispy skin, super flavorful, Mmmmmmm...
Allyson says
So glad you hear you loved them!!! Make sure to try these Air Fryer Asian Chicken Wings (crispy & sticky) and these Air Fryer Lemon Pepper Chicken Wings Also!
May says
Can I make these with chicken tenders? Does the cooking temp and time change?
Marv says
Hey. I don’t know if this was asked and wanted to try to get a quick reply. What can I substitute for Paprika if I can’t find any in my pantry? I don’t want to change the flavours too much, so any other paprika substitutes would be awesome. Thanks
Allyson says
I would just leave it out if you don't have it. However I would recommend purchasing because paprika lasts forever in your pantry and is a recipe staple!
LM Hur says
These are PERFECT!
Followed recipe exactly. I was worried they would overcook. At the 10 min mark (before I flipped them), I tested the temperature, and they were at 155, so I put them back in, and when they came out, they were crispy on the outside, and juicy tender on the inside! Thank you!
Allyson says
So happy to hear that!! Make sure you try out our other Chicken Wing recipes too!!! So good!!!
Liz P says
Thank you for the recipe. Absolutely the best and easiest chicken wings. This will definitely be our go to. My husband and I loved them.

Pamela says
I made this wings exactly as written and they were perfect. Do you any suggestions about time and temp if I tried this with drumsticks?
Allyson says
So happy to hear that! I actually have the Chicken Drumsticks in the Air Fryer recipe as well! Check it out here!
Beverly Stropky says
I just purchased my first Air Frier and your recipe is the first one I have tried. All I can say is Fantastic! Now my husband wants me to make these every week for lunch. I followed your recipe exactly and they were perfect. Now at the end of cooking my frier beeped saying BURN. I had only a minute left on the time. I stoped the cooking and pulled out the basket. I could not find anything that was burnt. Not sure why it did this. I will be trying again next week and see if it does the same thing.
I see you have a list of other wing options which I will be trying. I love Asian food so I will try that one next.
Thank you so much! I will be following you for more recipes!
Allyson says
Beverly I am so happy to hear that!! You will love all of them!!
Robin says
This recipe is fantastic. I family favorite. Thank you so much Allyson!
Brenda says
These wings were great! Simple easy ingredients and cooking time was spot on!
Julie says
I’ve tried other recipes that weren’t as crispy or flavorful as they claimed. I tried this one tonight and it’s soooo good!! I’m excited. I finally found an air fryer wing recipe that I love! Thank you, thank you, thank you. I’ll be passing along your recipe and your site.
Allyson says
SO happy to hear that Julie!!! Make sure you try our other wing recipes like these Air Fryer Asian Chicken Wings (crispy & sticky), or these Air Fryer Lemon Pepper Chicken Wings - both are DELICIOUS!
Greg says
Add a little cayenne and perfecto
Auntie Doni says
Allyson, these are some of the best Wings I've ever eaten!
My husband has never been a fan of any kind of "messy foods", like wings or ribs, but he devoured these!
I served them up in the "classic pizza joint style" - with Pizza and a Green Salad.
What a meal!!!
Mahalo, thank you for sharing.
Allyson says
Pizza and wings is the best! I am so happy to hear you enjoyed them!
kitchen kriz says
Hey Allyson, thanks for sharing this air fryer chicken wing recipe. I will definitely try this one for my family.
Vee says
Excellent rub and perfectly cooked. Crispy outside juicy inside. Can eat as is or toss in your favorite sauce.
Lorisia says
Followed the recipe exactly and these were the best wings ever!!!
Tammy says
My first time air frying, keeping my fingers crossed🤞
Allyson says
How did you like it? These are the BEST!
Tammy says
They turned out great, my Grandson is 24 and he just praised them. I’m looking forward to trying other things.
Allyson says
I am so happy to hear that!!! I bet he would also love these popular Air Fryer Asian Wings! Happy cooking!
Virginia says
If you were cooking them in an air fryer with a basket or elevated grill surface, do you have to flip the wings as indicated in the recipe?
Allyson says
Despite the air fryer, it is recommended to flip the wings as indicated in the recipe.
Lydia says
I have the air fryer/ pressure cooker combo. Can I have one layer on the basket bottom then another layer on the elevated grill cooking two layers of wings at the same time?
Allyson says
I can't answer this with 100% certainty because I don't have that air fryer. You can try it if you typically cook like that, but I can't be sure. Sorry!
Lynn Pedersen says
I have the Ninja Foodi and no…they won’t cook properly and you would end up taking twice the time anyways. Do in 2 batches and you will be happy😁
rebecca stillwell says
the skin wasnt crispy. i used peppe,r paprica, brown sugar and other seasoning.
done inside but not crispy skin i dried them first sprayed olive oil and cooked as directed
Allyson says
If you follow the recipe, the skin will be crispy. This recipe does NOT call for brown sugar at all. Not sure why that was added. The recipe also does not say to spray the wings with oil.
Andie says
A few years ago, Hubby bought me an air fryer expressly for cooking wings which usually turn out pretty good. However, this is the recipe I’ve been looking for. Can’t wait to try the Garlic Parm. Thank you for sharing!
Allyson says
So happy you found it! Make sure you try the Air Fryer Asian Chicken Wings (crispy & sticky) and the Air Fryer BBQ Chicken Wings too!!!
Steve says
Great recipe! I followed your instructions and added some things I had sitting around. Then towards the end I spread some BBQ sauce on the wings and oh my they came out wonderful!!!
Allyson says
Sounds yummy! So happy you liked them!
Theresa says
Absolutely amazing!!! What a great recipe. Thanks for posting. Will definitely make again!!! 😁
Allyson says
So happy you enjoyed them!!
Lauren Tinsley says
Delicious. Air frying them in a true air fryer vs the oven air fryer is key.
Michelle says
These turned out great! I got nervous and pulled them out after 6 minutes on the second side, but i think they would have been fine if they had gone the full 8. Easier than I had anticipated! Delicious even with no batter!
Allyson says
They are so good and so easy! Make sure you try these Air Fryer Asian Chicken Wings (crispy & sticky) and Air Fryer Lemon Pepper Chicken Wings!!!
Todd Thompson says
Recipe says to separate drums and flats. Why? Do you cook them differently?
Allyson says
It means if they come together. The wing sometimes comes with the drum and flat attached together, in which case you would need to separate them 🙂
BarnYardPaw says
First time to use your recipe and the result was outstanding! Thanks for sharing!
Allyson says
SO happy to hear that!!!
Gayle says
I love my air fryer and chicken wings. This recipe is deliciously perfect as written!
Allyson says
It really is the BEST! I hope you try the other air fryer recipes on Domestic Superhero, too!
Layla says
I genuinely have never left a comment on someone’s recipe before but this was AMAZING. Super easy, our second batch came out crispier because we did crowd a little on the first round (we have a tiny air fryer). SO crispy and SO tender on the inside it was wild. I asked my boyfriend if they were better than his favorite dive bar’s wings and he said they’re pretty much equal haha. Used Buffalo for the first batch and then barbecue sauce for the second w some hot honey. Amazing, will be making for the rest of my life haha.
Allyson says
Layla, THANK YOU so much for your adorable comment! I am so happy that you and your boyfriend enjoyed the wings! They really don't get any better than this! Make sure you try these amazing Air Fryer Asian Chicken Wings (crispy & sticky) too!!
Allyson says
Super good, super easy and super crunchy! My son said they were better than Wing Stop! Had to make a second batch for him. Also I love how we spell our names the same 😁😉 Thank you for the recipe!
Allyson says
Hey, nice name!!! I am so happy y'all loved them and what a sweet compliment!
Sue Stevenson says
Make it lower cal by boiling the wings for 10mins, then season with the garlic powder and paprika. Cook for 8mins each side, then add the bbq or hot sauce. Thank you to Melanie for the low fat version
Allyson says
These wings are best made as the recipe is written. There is no need to boil the wings as they are cooked in the air fryer!
Rob says
This was my first time making wings and they came out absolutely perfect. Just picked up some more to make another batch tomorrow night. Thank you!

Marie says
Have made this recipe many times and love it. Had a couple of wings and a skin on chicken breast. I cooked it with the wings using the spices in this recipe and it was wonderful
Tyler says
What is the point of putting oil on the wings if you are trying to use an “oil-less” method of cooking?
Kurt M Englund says
It is a misconception to describe air fryer cooking as "oil-less". Typical air fryer recipes (like this one) will call for a tablespoon or two of oil. That is necessary if you intend to get the thing you're air frying crispy.
Air fryers just use considerably less oil when compared to pan or deep frying.
Allyson says
I am confused by this comment since I didn't state anywhere in this recipe that there was no oil involved. You need a bit of oil to cook the food and get it crispy. Happy cooking!
Dawn says
Absolutely as promised! Seasoned perfectly, expert doneness, and super crispy but still juicy on the inside! This will be my "go to" for wings from now on...Thanks for the recipe!
Allyson says
So happy to hear that! Thank you for leaving your review!
David Matthews says
I agree completely. Fantastic! Perfect in every way!
Allyson says
Thank you so much!!!
Holly says
Making them as I write this. Our favourite way to make wings 🙂
Steve wolfe says
Good stuff. I guilded the Lilly with a box of Betty's au gratin and added parm during the bake. Yummity yum!!!!
Sharon McRoy says
YUMMMMY! I've made this recipe 4 times, adjusting seasonings to suit, as well as the oil (1/2 veg oil and 1/2 sesame oil). Also increased both the seasoning blend and oil, increasing each by 1/2 of requested amount for 1.5 lbs. of wings (6-7 whole wings). I increased cooking time by 2 minutes, also. So delicious!!!
Allyson says
Sharon, I am so happy that you love the chicken wings, isn't the air fryer great?! Happy cooking!
Robert says
I’ve made this many times. As long as you flip during cooking pour the whole bag in the fryer. 2 lb bag 20 mins crispy as said, as Long as you toss during cooking. Maybe 15 wings at a time technique is the key.
Angie says
If you’re a chicken wing lover, this is the best chicken wings I have ever made and I have been making chicken wings for years. If I could give this more than five stars, I would I’ve tried many recipes cause I just never got that right crispiness with that juicy inside just perfectly done and the flavour is amazing. I usually only do salt and pepper chicken wings no more this is what we always make now the spices are perfect and I have the pickiest foodie for a husband. Thank you so much for the absolutely amazing recipe.
Allyson says
Thank you so much for sharing your comment with us Angie!!! It makes me so happy that you and your family enjoy the wings!
Sondra says
I couldn't upload the picture but it looked exactly like yours and I kids loved it. They said it was "busting" lol whatever that meant but they ate it all. Thank you will use again
Allyson says
I am so happy to hear they loved it!!!
Andrea Celovsky says
Wow cool story!
Rebecca says
This is the third time we have used this recipe. Fabulous! We put it on for two minutes longer because we leave the wing intact. I tried the sesame oil and that was good too… tonight I added Parmesan cheese… delish!
Allyson says
SO GOOD! Try these ones too, they are super tasty: Air Fryer Asian Chicken Wings (crispy & sticky) and Air Fryer Lemon Pepper Chicken Wings

BEST air-fried wings, I have never left a comment for a recipe but this recipe warrants one. My college aged son was skeptical but said by far these are better than the wings at any bar! WIN WIN
Allyson says

Recipes like this one are exactly why I love my air fryer so much. These wings came out so tender and juicy, and the skin was perfect. I love that sauce, too!

These look absolutely amazing! Can't wait to make them
Cindy says
I’ve tried many recipes for air fried wings, yours is by far the best and now my go to and share recipe!
Lisa says
Can you adjust this recipe for frozen wings?
Allyson says
I recommend defrosting the wings. You need to make sure they are dry before cooking otherwise the skin will not get crispy.
Donna says
These are perfect, mine were touching in the air fryer, but they still came out crispy, I just added one minute cook time.
Allyson says
Great!!!
Beth says
I did the same thing because I like my chicken skin super crispy. They're some of the best wings I've made.
Melissa says
The yummiest and easiest weeknight meal. Couldn't love this more!

Sandra says
Omg! These are so good and easy to make! My kids loved them!
Winniebear says
Question...I"ve never made wings at home. Would there be any benefit to marinating them overnight?
Allyson says
This wing doesnt need to be marinaded because it doesn't have a sauce. if you want to cook something like these Air Fryer Asian Chicken Wings (crispy & sticky) then you cold definitely let them marinade overnight!
Erin | Dinners, Dishes and Dessert says
Absolutely delicious! Always a huge hit at our house!
Catalina says
Wow, these Air Fryer Chicken Wings were incredible! They came out so crispy, just like the recipe promised.
Melissa says
Great way to make wings! Making these again soon!
Andrew says
The best recipe! Perfect time for the Big Game this Sunday!
Rae says
Made them tonight, found I needed a little more oil and spices, and my air fryer must be a higher temp at 400, next time I’ll try them with 2 minutes less on each side. Seasoning was good!,
Kendra says

Allyson says

Kim says
I love this recipe. The seasonings are perfect. I cook them a couple minutes longer after turning to get crispy like we like them.
Coonellie says
Excellent! These were delicious and easy!
As is usual for me, I tweak (a blessing and a curse, depending on the results!). My limited alterations:
1. I used whole chicken wings
2. I added curry powder, Greek oregano, and a little kosher salt to the dry mix
3. I used a commenter’s suggestion and put it all in a ziplock and shook it
4. I cooked it 4 minutes longer (they were big wings and whole)
So, so delicious! Thank you so much! I’m going to check out your other air fryer recipes.
Gab says
Perfect recipe! The wings came out super crispy and delicious 🙂
Allyson says
Happy you enjoyed them as much as we do!
