**scroll all the way down for full printable recipe**
- In a large pot or skillet with tall sides , add onions, garlic, and ground beef and cook for 6-8 minutes, or until beef is cooked through; use a wooden spatula to break apart while cooking. Drain off the fat.
- Next add tomato paste, broth, water, oregano, basil, black pepper; whisk well to combine ingredients and bring to a boil.
- Add spaghetti and lightly press down so sauce comes over it. Lightly stir it every few seconds, so that spaghetti combines with sauce and meat.
- Cover the pot and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until spaghetti is cooked through and sauce has thickened.
- Serve immediately topped with fresh parmesan cheese and basil if desired.
TIPS for cooking One Pot Spaghetti:
- Get yourself a skillet/pot like the one I have – it’s amazing.
- No longer do I have to use a HUGE pot, and worry about washing it, nor do I have to squeeze everything into my shallow sided skillet and have the sauce bubble over – this high side skillet is seriously made for these one pot pasta dishes.
- Be sure to stir the food every 3-4 minutes while simmering. Otherwise it will get stuck to the bottom of the pan. Use low/medium heat once you are simmering.
- Reheating is easy: Add to a microwave safe bowl and cook for 1 minute. Stir and cook another 30 seconds or until heated through.

Little Cooking Tips
Never tried to cook spaghetti this way before, excellent idea Allyson! Did you break the spaghetti in half, in order to mix it easier? Thank you for the wonderful one-pot idea!

Allyson
Thanks! I don't break it, but you could! I just kind of push it down into the sauce whole, but either way will work!
Huma
Tried the one pot spaghetti. Really good. Thank you.
Kathy
Hi I wanted to make this, and I was wondering if you have to add the oregano?
Allyson
If you dont like it, it won't make much a difference if you leave it out!

Made this tonight as written with a couple of changes - 16 oz spaghetti instead of 12, can of diced tomatoes, addition of small can of tomato sauce, red pepper flakes, mushrooms. Loved it. Will make again. Easy and tasty. Winner!
Allyson
So glad you loved it!

I'm using a high side skillet for copking many things and just love the way you can add ingredients without the pan overspilling. But never even thought to do pasta and sauce in one go.... Have tried your recipe and will never cook my spaghetti first in water then add to the sauce. This is so convenient!

This was super simple and yummy! After reading what others wrote, I only added about 7 oz of pasta. I’m glad I did because it was JUST right with the amount of sauce. We also added cottage cheese to our bowl when serving...it was perfect! Great recipe!
Suzanne
Delicious!!! Thank you. I used einkorn wheat spaghetti and grated fontina cheese instead of parmesan. So good, it was hard to put the leftovers away, but I'll eat it up tomorrow!
Elsie
Made this for dinner tonight. I needed to add a little more broth as the sauce cooked down, but otherwise followed the recipe as written. It was delicious! Will definitely make again. Thanks so much!

My first time to make one pot spaghetti and I’m surprised how good it is. The hubby loved it. I used fresh basil and added pepper flakes which is usually my way of making most pastas. I just don’t know how I can correct the starchy taste. Maybe not enough water? I added more hot water until the pasta was al detente. Thanks for sharing.
