How to make Jalapeno Popper Grilled Cheese:
**scroll down for full ingredients list and printable directions**
- First, get all the ingredients together. After we make the filling, we will make an assembly line to put the sandwiches together.
- In a medium bowl, add the softened ream cheese, HALF of the shredded cheeses (set the other half aside), garlic, spices, and chopped jalapeños to a bowl and mix thoroughly. Set aside.
- Taking 4 slices of bread, butter one side of each slice of bread. Place the buttered sides face down. Add half of the cream cheese mixture to 2 slices of bread. Top the other 2 slices with the remaining shredded cheese. Place the cream cheese mixture slice of bread on top of the other slice, with the buttered sides facing out.
- Using a heavy bottom skillet, heat over medium heat for 1-2 minutes. Add sandwiches to the skillet and cook 3-4 minutes on the first side. Once golden, flip and cook for 2 minutes on the next side.
- Remove from the skillet, cut sandwiches in half, and serve immediately.
Tips for making the perfect grilled cheese:
- Keep the skillet over a medium/low heat. It is very easy to burn the bread while cooking a grilled cheese, so avoid this by cooking over medium/low heat. This ensures the cheese melts while not cooking the bread too quickly.
- Use enough cheese! Grilled cheese is meant to be packed with cheese…don’t skimp!
- Eat right after it’s cooked! No one likes soggy or cold hardened grilled cheese! Eat it freshly cooked for the most outstanding taste!

The perfect way to kick up your grilled cheese game a few notches! The bread is so important for this too so I'm glad you used the thicker kind. Looks amazing!

This looks to be my new favorite grilled cheese! Some questions, can the jalapenos be roasted properly in the air fryer? Would it need a coat or spray of oil, or just dry? Would you still place in a bag to steam and peel them after or just as is when roasting is done? Appreciate any answers as I don't have an oven in my RV, just the air fryer. Going to check out those other grilled cheese 🧀 recipes now, somehow I missed those. Thank you for all the great recipes and fun blog reading, videos and education!

One other thing. Do you think roasted red peppers would work too? Then I could do spicy jalapeno for me and mild red pepper for the hubby. Just not sure if the flavors will be ok. Thank you again!

Yes that would be delicious! Or sundried tomatoes!

Yes, I used my air fryer to roast my jalapenos actually. I just roasted them and once they were soft I chopped them up..didn't peel them. If you like things really spicy, you could even make it without roasting. the jalapenos and use fresh chopped jalapenos. Happy cooking!
