Making this salad couldn't be easier, and while it is vegetarian, adding shredded chicken or salmon would be a great way to increase the protein. You could also serve this alongside these easy Mongolian Chicken!
How to make this Easy Asian Salad:
**scroll down for full ingredients list and printable directions**
- First, make the Asian dressing. This will allow the dressing to meld while you prepare the salad.
- In a small jar, add all of the dressing ingredients (see full list in recipe card at bottom of page), then shake vigorously for 30 seconds. Place in the fridge.
- Prepare the Asian salad ingredients: chop the orange pepper, green onions, cilantro, and almonds; set aside.
- Using a small skillet over medium heat, add the chopped almonds and sesame seeds. Sauté for 2 minutes or until lightly browned and fragrant. Remove from heat and set aside. Heating these ingredients helps bring out the flavors for them in the salad.
- Add coleslaw mix to a large bowl, then add the rest of the salad ingredients.
- When ready to serve the salad, pour the homemade asian salad dressing over the top of the Asian Salad, then toss well to coat.
- Serve the salad immediately! Store extra salad in an airtight container or bag for up to 3 days in the fridge.
How to add more protein to the salad:
- Add cold shredded chicken or turkey to this salad. This is a great way to boost the protein and also round out the meal.
- Air fry some salmon filets with soy sauce and then add to over the top of the salad. I love this flavor and it adds a lot of protein to the salad.
- Bake tofu and add cubed tofu to the Asian salad.
- Air Fryer Salmon Bites have an Asian glaze that would be perfect on this salad!
- I love adding edamame to this salad! It not only adds protein, but more delicious texture.
- Add this Air Fryer Sesame Chicken for a yummy addition!
- Add a few tablespoons of peanut butter to the dressing. This will add protein and make the dressing a more creamy consistency.
Can I prepare the salad ahead of time?
Yes! Mix all of the Asian salad ingredients and store covered in a bowl in the fridge for up to 2 days. Make the salad dressing and store in a container in the fridge. When ready to serve, add the dressing then toss to coat.

Sometimes when I'm craving crunch and a bit of sour this salad always comes through! The only thing I do differently is to make sure to chop the coleslaw a bit just so everything can fit on the same spoon or fork.

Now that's what I call a salad! It's healthy, it's delicious, and it's far more interesting than the salads I usually make.
