Lemon Rosemary Iced Teagaritas

Lemon Rosemary Iced Teagaritas

One of the things I love about summer, is the chance to create tons of interesting cocktails. I love using fresh herbs from the garden, and lately I have been playing with a lot of infused simple syrups. Last week I shared a Basil Simple Syrup, and now in this cocktail I used a lemon rosemary simple syrup. This cocktail is actually super easy to make, because I used the new product by Jose Cuervo, Iced Teagarita! Their new product consists of their classic lime flavored margarita, blended with Jose Cuervo Tequila and premium orange liqueur, then combined with refreshing iced tea- the perfect southern cocktail!

Of course I like to mix things up when we have company, so I wanted to add an infused herb syrup to this already delicious cocktail mix. Making the infused syrup is easy….

Lemon Rosemary Iced Teagaritas

In a small saucepot combine Β½ cup water and Β½ cup sugar. Heat over medium heat and use a whisk to mix this together until the sugar dissolves (maybe 1 minute).  Then add a couple sprigs of fresh rosemary leaves and a couple pieces of lemon peel.  Simmer over low heat for about 15 minutes, occasionally stirring. Remove from heat and let cool completely.  After it’s cooled down, use a small strainer to strain the syrup into a small container and discard used leaves and peels.  This syrup will keep in the fridge for up to 6 months as long as it’s stored in an air tight container (like a mason jar). When you want to use it in a drink, just add a tablespoon or more, depending on how much sweeter/flavored you want the drink.

Lemon Rosemary Iced Teagaritas

For this cocktail, you just use the Jose Cuervo Iced Teagarita mix and pour it over ice. Toss a couple lemons into the glass, add 2 tablespoons of the Lemon Rosemary Simple Syrup, mix, and you are good to go!  My husband and friends LOVED this cocktail! I can’t wait to have more friends over so I can use more of the Jose Cuervo Teagarita!

These sound yummy and I love your 'twist' with the herb syrup. My summer cocktail of choice is vodka/soda/lime πŸ™‚
