The best part about slow cooker cheesecake, is that it’s comes out ultra creamy. The cake is actually steaming to cook so it retains all the moisture and that makes it so smooth and delicious. The first time I made cheesecake in the slow cooker, I was sure it was going to be a major bust, but I was proved wrong, and it was an amazingly delicious dessert! If you like cheesecake as much as I do, you’ll love this Instant Pot Peanut Butter Cheesecake or Slow Cooker Cranberry Cheesecake as well!

It’s easy to make cheesecake in the slow cooker, here’s how:

How to make Slow Cooker Butterfinger Cheesecake:

  • Make the filling: In the bowl of a stand mixer, add cream cheese, vanilla, and 1⁄2 cup sugar, salt and flour; using the paddle attachment beat on medium until completely combined and no lumps. Add eggs, one at a time, beating until mixed. Add sour cream and beat for 30 seconds; scrape down the sides of the bowl with a spatula; beat 15 additional seconds. Add the 6 chopped Butterfinger bars, and beat 20 seconds. Set mixture aside.
  • Make the crust: In a medium bowl, mix graham cracker crumbs, butter and 1 TBS sugar, with a fork; combine. Pour crumbs into the bottom of the spring form pan and press down evenly to make the crust.
  • Pour the cream cheese mixture on top of the crust, into the spring form pan.
  • Add 1 inch of water to the large slow cooker (5, 6, or 7 quart slow cooker). Place a wire rack into the bottom (I used 3 rings from Mason jar lids to set it on), and then place the filled spring form pan on top of rack.
  • Lay 3 layers of paper towels across the top of the slow cooker (hold tight so they don’t fall and touch the cheesecake), then place the lid on top.
  • Cook on high for 2 hours (do not remove the lid at all during this time), turn off, remove lid and paper towels, and let stand for 1-2 hours or until slow cooker is cool.
  • Place cheesecake in pan into the fridge and let set for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
  • Using a non-serrated long knife, run it between the cake and the pan sides, then release the lock and pop to cake out on the base. Using the remaining 3 fun size Butterfingers, chop and sprinkle over the top of the cake. Drizzle chocolate sauce over the top. Slice and serve!

Slow Cooker Butterfinger Cheesecake

Slow Cooker Butterfinger Cheesecake is the creamiest, most delicious cheesecake you’ll ever eat! With Butterfingers and chocolate sauce, it’s amazing!

Ingredients
  • 1.5 packages cream cheese 12 ounces total, softened
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 ⁄2 cup sugar + 1 TBS Sugar
  • 1 TBS flour
  • 1 ⁄4 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 5 fun size Butterfingers or 1 whole regular sized candy bar, chopped roughly + 3 fun size for topping
  • 3 ⁄4 cup graham cracker crumbs
  • 2 TBS butter melted
  • chocolate sauce for topping
Instructions
  1. In the bowl of a stand mixer, add cream cheese, vanilla, and 1⁄2 cup sugar, salt and flour; using the paddle attachment beat on medium until completely combined and no lumps. I love making pasta, but my family gets sick of the same old pasta dishes, so when I saw a pack of gnocchi, I knew I could put a twist on things by making a Bacon Mac and Cheese Gnocchi!

This recipe is so easy, and taking hardly any time to whip up, that saves me time that I can be spending with my family! My kids even like helping me shred the cheese and mix everything together! Serve this alongside a delicious easy Wedge Salad or with the Best Ever Garlic Bread!

How to make Bacon Mac and Cheese Gnocchi:

  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil. Place 8 strips of bacon on the sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until cooked a bit crispy. Remove bacon from sheet and place on paper towel lined dish; set aside.
  • In a medium sauce pot, cook the gnocchi according to package directions; strain and set aside.
  • In a medium pot, melt the butter and add the garlic. Saute for 1 minute and then add the flour and whisk to combine; cook for 30 seconds stirring continuously. Over medium heat, slowly add milk while whisking. Increase heat to high and whisk constantly until mixture thickens and comes to a bubble.
  • Reduce heat to low, add cheese and whisk to combine. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • In a small bowl add panko, cayenne pepper, salt, black pepper, and green onions; toss to combine. Chop the bacon strips.
  • In a small baking dish, add gnocchi, pour cheese sauce over the top and carefully toss to coat. Sprinkle parmesan cheese over the top, then sprinkle bacon crumbles, and then sprinkle the panko mixture on top of that.
  • Place into the oven and bake for 20 minutes. Switch to broil and broil for 2-3 minutes or until panko is lightly browned and crispy. Remove from oven and top with green onions if desired. Serve immediately!

What are Gnocchi & where to find them? 

  • Gnocchi are a variety of pasta consisting of various thick, small, and soft dough dumplings that may be made from semolina, ordinary wheat flour, egg, cheese, potato, breadcrumbs, cornmeal or similar ingredients.
  • Gnocchi will be found in the pasta aisle at your local grocery store. They are usually packaged in a plastic vacuum sealed package with 1lb of gnocchi inside. Alternatively they can be purchased on Amazon.

Bacon & 'Mac' & Cheese Gnocchi
Ingredients
  • 1 package gnocchi
  • 1/2 package NatureRaised Farms Bacon
  • 2 TBS butter
  • 1 garlic clove minced
  • 2 TBS flour
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 1/2 cups white cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese freshly grated
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper optional but I recommend it
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 2 green onions chopped
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.

Now that fall is here, I have been whipping up lots of delicious ‘fall’ recipes. I was really excited to make this Apple Grilled Cheese with delicious smokey gouda cheese because not only is it reminiscent of fall, but because it is super simple and delicious. Serve this with Air Fryer Butternut Squash or Instant Pot Roasted Red Pepper Soup and you have a delicious balanced meal!

I love making savory food, and this Apple Grilled Cheese is definitely that. When fall rolls around, I feel like food is so centered around apples, pumpkin, cinnamon, and sweet potatoes…as it should be. I just swoon over all of those things, and fall foods make me super happy. 

Making this Apple Grilled Cheese couldn’t be easier! Here’s how:

How to make Apple Grilled Cheese:

  • Heat up a heavy bottom skillet over medium heat. 
  • Make the sandwiches: One slice of bread, then top with 1.5 slices of cheese, apple slices, more cheese, and then the top slice of bread. Butter the top slice of bread. 
  • Lay the sandwiches with the buttered bread touching the skillet. Butter the top piece of bread. Place a sandwich press or heavy bottom skillet on top of the sandwiches to press them down. Cook for 3-4 minutes on first side, or until browned. Flip carefully and cook 2-3 minutes on the other side, allowing to brown (careful – second side usually cooks faster).
  • Serve immediately!

Tips for making the BEST Apple Grilled Cheese:

  • For this Apple Grilled Cheese sandwich I used a smoked gouda cheese, and it’s up to you if you use smoked or regular. I think it would be great with both, but the smoked gives it this bacon-y punch that’s really special.
  • Pairing the cheese and apples is a no brainer (think cheese plate), but now you are sandwiching it between two crusty pieces of bread. Then grilling it up, you melt the cheese and it becomes perfection.
  • Cook over a constant medium heat. This will allow the cheese to melt without burning the bread.

French Onion Grilled Cheese

Caramelized sweet Vidalia onions mixed with rich Gruyère cheese and melted between a thick sliced crusty bread makes the perfect French Onion Grilled Cheese.

For today’s post I have Partnered with Sara Lee, but as always, all opinions are my own. Grilled cheese is America’s favorite sandwich, but taking it to the next level is a meal solution that everyone will love. Grilled cheeses are always popular on Domestic Superhero; Caprese Grilled Cheese, Spinach Pesto Grilled Cheese, and BBQ Chicken & Pineapple Grilled Cheese are just a few of the popular recipes I’ve shared. However, this French Onion Grilled Cheese is going to blow your mind! It’s ooey-gooey, and majorly delicious! 

Today I’m sharing a locally inspired French Onion Grilled Cheese. Why is it locally inspired? Because I am from Georgia, and I am featuring Georgia’s delicious Vidalia onions! They are the perfect onion for French onion soup, grilled cheese, or anything! It’s EASY to make this French Onion Grilled Cheese!

How to make French Onion Grilled Cheese:

  • Get all of the ingredients together: Vidalia onions, gruyere cheese, Sara Lee® Artesano™ Bread, butter, salt, and pepper.
    • I love using Sara Lee Artesano Bread because it’s the ORIGINAL artisan-style sliced bread. Sliced thick with a mouthwateringly soft texture and rich flavor plus: No high fructose corn syrup, no artificial flavors, and no artificial colors!
  •  

  • Heat a heavy bottom skillet over medium low heat and add the butter to the skillet. While it’s melting, slice the onions thinly.
    • Add the onions to the skillet once the butter is melted, and then sauté them for a few minutes.
    • Turn the heat to low/medium and let the onions sit.
      • You are going to caramelize the onions and this takes some time…about 20-25 minutes. Let the onions sit in the skillet and stir them every 5-6 minutes. Once the onions are browned and soft they are good to go!

  • Next you will add the cooked onions to the grated cheese.
    • I like mixing the cheese and onions before adding to the bread because it ensures equal distribution of the cheese and onions for every bite!

  • Next, take the softened butter and slather onto one side of each slice of bread (this will be the side you cook the sandwich on). Then, add the onion mixture on the side of the bread that does not have the butter, and add another slice to the top, butter facing out. 
  • Wipe out the skillet you cooked the onions in, then heat over low/medium heat. Place the grilled cheese into the skillet, butter facing down. Cook 3-4 minutes or until browned on that side, then carefully flip over. Cook 2-3 minutes on the other side and remove from the pan. Cook the second French onion grilled cheese. 

  • EAT while HOT!

Tips for making the perfect grilled cheese:

  • Keep the skillet over a medium/low heat. It is very easy to burn the bread while cooking a grilled cheese, so avoid this by cooking over medium/low heat. This ensures the cheese melts while not cooking the bread too quickly.
  • Use enough cheese! Grilled cheese is meant to be packed with cheese…don’t skimp!
  • Eat right after it’s cooked! No one likes soggy or cold hardened grilled cheese! Eat it freshly cooked for the most outstanding taste!

  5. Taking the remaining softened butter, slather onto one side of each slice of bread (this will be the side you cook the sandwich on). Add the onion mixture on the side of the bread that does not have the butter, and add another slice to the top, butter facing out. 

  6. Wipe out the skillet you cooked the onions in, then heat over low/medium heat. Place the grilled cheese into the skillet, butter facing down. Cook 3-4 minutes or until browned on that side, then carefully flip over. Cook 2-3 minutes on the other side and remove from the pan.

  7. Repeat for second sandwich. Cook and remove from skillet. Cut in half and enjoy immediately.

This hearty Instant Pot Potato Soup is a delicious comfort meal. The soup is the perfect mix of potatoes, bacon, and cheese. In just a few minutes, dinner is served!

This hearty Instant Pot Potato Soup is a delicious comfort meal. The soup is the perfect mix of potatoes, bacon, and cheese. In just a few minutes, dinner is served!

This Instant Pot Potato Soup is full of cheese and bacon and delicious spices! It is the perfect rainy day or cold weather meal; however I also love eating it in the summer! I will eat soup anytime! I will share how to make this in the Instant Pot as well as the slow cooker. With the Instant Pot, dinner will be ready in under 30 minutes which makes a fast family meal! Serve this with simple Air Fryer Roasted Broccoli or Asparagus, or an Easy Wedge Salad for the perfect meal!

If you don’t have an Instant Pot, you need to get one! It is a great appliance that will save you a lot of time! You can make everything from The Perfect Hard Boiled Eggs to Peanut Butter Cheesecake! I love the Instant pot! This Potato Soup is EASY to make, here’s how!

How to Make Instant Pot Potato Soup (with bacon and cheese):

  • Get all of the ingredients together. This is a ‘dump’ recipe, where you are going to toss everything in and let it cook! Makes life so easy!
  • Add the chicken stock, cream of mushroom or chicken soup, frozen potatoes, seasonings, and 5 slices of chopped pre-cooked bacon (use this Microwave Bacon method– so easy) to the Instant Pot.

  • Put the top on the Instant Pot and seal the lid. Make sure the pressure valve is in the sealed position. Set to manual or high, then set for 8 minutes.
    • Remember that 8 minutes is NOT the total cooking time. It will take some time for the pot to ‘come to pressure’. Once it comes to pressure, the timer will start counting down. Since this recipe has a lot of liquid it could take some time. Mine began counting down after 12-15 minutes.
  • Place the cream cheese on the counter to bring it to room temperature while the soup is cooking. Grate the block of sharp cheddar cheese.
    • Freshly grated cheese will work a lot better for this recipe. Pre-shredded cheese has additives that make it grainy when melting.
  • Once the time is up, let the pressure release naturally for 5 minutes, then release the rest of the pressure by flipping the valve to the side (careful steam will escape here).
  • Add the cubed cream cheese and 3/4 of the grated cheddar cheese. Put the lid back on the top of the pot and let sit for 5 minutes (this will help everything melt together.
  • After 5 minutes, use a whisk and stir the soup until the cheeses are completely melted and incorporated.
  • Serve the soup hot and top with crispy bacon and more cheese if desired.
  • You could even slam a home run with this recipe by serving the soup in these homemade bread bowls!!! YUM!!!

If you don’t have an Instant Pot, don’t worry! You can also make this delicious potato soup in a slow cooker! Here’s how:

How to make Potato Soup in the Slow Cooker:

  • Add all ingredients to the slow cooker, close and cook on high for 4 hours or low for 7 hours.
  • Stir well when the time is up and serve with desired toppings.

Instant Pot Potato Soup is definitely a meal you can eat all by itself; it’s hearty, filling, and delicious! However, if you want to serve it as a side dish, I highly recommend serving it with one of these main dishes:

Ingredients
  • 32 ounces chicken or vegetable stock
  • 1 can cream of mushroom or chicken soup
  • 32 ounce bag frozen hash-brown potatoes (cubed, not shredded)
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 TSB fresh garlic
  • 5 slices pre-cooked bacon, chopped (about 1/2 cup bacon crumbles)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened or room temperature
  • 8 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, freshly shredded (set 1/3 cup aside for topping)
For topping, optional
  • 1/3 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese, (reserved from the 8 ounces above)
  • 3 slices pre-cooked bacon slices, chopped (about 1/4th cup)
  • green onions
Instructions
Instant Pot Directions:
  1. Using a 6 or 8 quart instant pot, add chicken stock, cream of mushroom or chicken soup, frozen potatoes, seasonings, and 5 slices of chopped pre-cooked bacon to the pot.

  2. Put the top on the Instant Pot and seal the lid. Make sure the pressure valve is in the sealed position. Set to manual or high, then set for 8 minutes. **Remember that 8 minutes is NOT the total cooking time. If you need a new lunch or dinner idea, Caprese Grilled Cheese is the answer! It’s a super simple sandwich that takes barely any time to make, and is majorly delicious! There’s only a handful of ingredients, so it doesn’t take a lot to groceries as well. Caprese Grilled Cheese is going to be your new meal staple!

Making this sandwich couldn’t be easier! Here’s how:

How to make Caprese Grilled Cheese:

  • Prep the ingredients: slice the tomatoes and let them sit in some balsamic vinegar.
  • Start the sandwich assembly line. 
    • Butter both sides of bread (you need a CRUSTY BREAD for these sandwiches). Turn it over, so the butter is facing down. Top 1 slice with pesto, add 1 slice of cheese, 3 tomatoes, and then another slice of cheese. If you like it really pesto-y, add some more pesto to top slice. Place top bread slice butter side out.
  • Now cook them: Heat skillet or panini press, and put sandwich on to cook. If using a skillet, flip when golden brown on one side. I cooked on a skillet for about 3 minutes on medium on each side.
    • I cooked 2 sandwiches at a time and was easily able to flip with enough room in the pan. Repeat until the sandwiches are all done!

How to make fresh pesto:

  • Ingredients
    • 1 cup loose basil leaves
    • 1 TBS olive oil
    • 2 TBS pine nuts, walnuts, or almonds (all work)
    • 2 TBS freshly grated parmesan cheese
    • pinch of salt and pepper
  • Add all ingredients in a Food Processor or blender, blend until smooth, scraping sides down if needed. Set aside.

Ingredients
  • 8 slices crusty bread
  • 4 TBS fresh pesto
  • 8 slices mozzarella cheese (I used pre-sliced, you could also use fresh)
  • 3 large ripe tomatoes, sliced
  • 2 TBS balsamic vinegar
  • butter
Instructions
  1. Slice tomatoes in medium slices (should have about 12 slices for 4 sandwiches, or 3 slices per sandwich), and place them in a shallow dish. Pour 2 TBS balsamic vinegar over tomatoes. Let sit while preparing the rest.

  2. Instructions to make 1 sandwich, repeat until you have desired number of sandwiches (recipe is for 4):
