You may remember that a couple weeks ago I posted about using these new products by Scott’s- Gro-ables! They are little pods that have the seeds already planted in soil and all you have to do it pop them into your garden bed. I planted 2 a few weeks ago, and they are already starting to pop up!
They are totally easy to grow, especially for first time gardeners. Just pop them in the ground, water, and watch them do their thing! Miracle Grow even guarantees that they will grow if taken care of properly! Can’t beat that! Want to learn more about them? Check out this video!
I have been using Sprout It for some inspiration and love their different garden concepts. I am pretty much doing a mix of the Basic Garden and the Salsa Garden. I can’t wait until I can actually harvest my plants!!
Like I mentioned in my last post, I really want to make these delicious Caprese Panini’s when my basil is ready to harvest!
I have a great recipe for some Walnut Basil Pesto from my friend, Shannah, who guest posted this recipe for Domestic Superhero last year! In case you need some inspiration, here it is…
Basil Walnut Pesto Recipe
What You’ll Need
3 packed cups of basil leaves
½ cup of walnut pieces
2 garlic cloves
1 teaspoon lemon juice
⅓ cup olive oil
½ cup grated parmesan cheese
Let’s Make It:
1) In a skillet, toast the walnuts and unpeeled garlic cloves for a few minutes until fragrant. Peel the garlic.
2) In food processor, pulse the walnuts and garlic until finely chopped. Add the basil leaves and lemon juice and turn on the processor. With the process running, pour in the olive oil and run for about 30 seconds to a minute until it is well mixed/combined. Scrape down the sides of the bowl and pulse a few more times to ensure everything is chopped and combined.
3) Pour into bowl and stir in grated parmesan cheese.
That's it! Super easy!

I have never made pesto!! Doesn't look so hard!! I wonder if you can make it without walnuts (or nuts) my hubby and one little one can't have them. I will google! Thank you for a fun idea for the gardening. I think we are nearly past the freezing spells here.

It is SO easy! I have never seen it made without nuts, usually people make it with Pine Nuts. But I have also made it with peanuts, walnuts, almonds, and cashews....not sure what you could replace with a nut allergy, but I am sure google is your friend here 🙂
