DIY Photo Eye Chart Art with Tutorial

April 15, 2013 18 Comments This post may contain affiliate links. Read my disclosure policy.

Last year when I was researching things for my gallery wall, I stumbled upon this great tool for making your own Eye Chart Art. I thought it was so cool, and started experimenting with different combinations.  I loved how my son's name looked, with his birthday, and it fit perfectly.  I made one, printed it, and hung it up near his room. Everyone always compliments it, and I tell everyone how easy and super cheap (just the cost of a photo print!) it is.  There are a few tips and tricks though, so I decided to share a tutorial on how to make your own! This is the final Photo Eye ...

DIY Vertical Garden

April 7, 2013 15 Comments This post may contain affiliate links. Read my disclosure policy.

For the longest time I have wanted to start my own garden.  Growing up in Michigan, my dad had a small garden in the backyard.  He would grow horseradish, which took over a huge area, zucchini's, onions, and tomatoes (and I might be forgetting some other things).  I remember having tomato 'fights' when my cousins would come to visit, and we would all wind up stained with tomato juice.....and my dad would be wondering where all his cherry tomatoes went...oops!   When I lived in California, I was able to help with the family garden which was awesome.  It was more of a ...

DIY: How to Make Your Own Custom Canvas

November 8, 2012 16 Comments This post may contain affiliate links. Read my disclosure policy.

When I found some super cheap grey chevron fabric at Hobby Lobby ($4 for a yard!) I decided I had to buy it...even though I had no idea what I would use it for.  I knew something would come up, and the fabric was really great quality duck cloth, so I knew it would hold up well for any project.  Then, when I was cleaning out the garage a few days later, I noticed I had tons of thin scrap pieces of wood, and it clicked that I could easily make my own canvas borders, and then use the fabric to cover it...perfect! This was a super easy DIY project, and super cheap too.  Essentially less than $4 ...

DIY Tufted Ikat Ottoman from Upcycled Pallet with Tutorial

October 18, 2012 246 Comments This post may contain affiliate links. Read my disclosure policy.

If you are on Pinterest, it's likely you have seen lots of various pallet projects.  Pallets are wooden squares that are used as bases to ship items.  They are usually reused or discarded, depending on the condition of the pallet. For months I have been keeping an eye out for discarded pallets, so I would be able to make one of these fabulous upcycling projects I have seen over and over again.  Usually whenever I spot one that is being thrown away, it is in shambles and in no condition to upcycle.  Then, one day coming out of Kroger I noticed this pallet by the ...

Guest Blog: DIY Disney Princess Dress with Tutorial

October 2, 2012 10 Comments This post may contain affiliate links. Read my disclosure policy.

When I found out how crafty my friend Marina is, I was hopeful I could get her to write a guest blog for me.  She is super duper crafty and pretty much said she would do whatever I wanted!  But, since she is the crafty one, she came up with this awesome idea to make a Disney Princess dress on the cheap and easy (easy if, um, you know how to sew?).  I can't believe how awesome it came out, and so much cheaper than if you shelled out the money at the Disney Store.  Marina also has a 22 month old toddler, and I bet we can both agree that no one wants to spend a lot of money on clothes that are ...

I can't believe we are already into September and fall is here!  I love, love, love fall!  The changing leaves, trees, pumpkins, apple picking, football games, cooler air, Halloween, apple cider, donuts, corn mazes, fall festivals....everything!  I just love it.  I have seen a couple Fall Bucket Lists going around and decided to make one for myself.  I included all of my must-do activities for fall this year! Have you made a bucket list for fall?  What are you must-do activities? ...

Home Energy Efficiency Checklist

September 6, 2012 Leave a Comment This post may contain affiliate links. Read my disclosure policy.

Back in April of this year we purchased our first home with the help of our wonderful Realtor, Paula Kellam.  She helped us find the perfect home, and now she is helping us maintain it.  Every couple of months she sends out helpful lists (sometimes emails, sometimes in the mail so I can have a checklist handy!), and I was happy to find one in my inbox the other day.  She compiled a list of things to make sure your home is the most energy efficient it can be.  These kinds of lists are great for me because we are first time home owners and don't know all the little tips and tricks that go along ...

Refinished Farmhouse Hutch with Tutorial

August 28, 2012 119 Comments This post may contain affiliate links. Read my disclosure policy.

This post has been a long time in the making, and I am really happy I can finally blog about it.  Since we moved in April, I knew that I wanted to find a great hutch for our kitchen because we have the perfect space for it.  I had been keeping my eye out for months, and then finally I found one I really liked on craigslist.  It was listed for $75, which I thought was a great deal.  After some emailing, going to see the hutch, and having the nice gentleman deliver it, I finally had the hutch in my garage!!!  This is what it looked like: I didn't take any pictures ...

DIY Fall Twine Vase

August 22, 2012 30 Comments This post may contain affiliate links. Read my disclosure policy.

Let me first say, I love fall.  I love when the leaves start changing colors, the humidity starts to break down, a light breeze comes into the air and the temperatures drop slightly.  I love thinking about fall bonfires, hoodie sweatshirts, and spiced apple cider.  Pumpkin patches, hay rides, and picking apples all come to mind when I think about fall.  College football, tailgating, wearing pants, long sleeves, and hats!  Fall decor is so beautiful, too; Orange, red, yellow leaves, pine cones, wood baskets, mini pumpkins and gourds....so many cute things!  I ...
